At the first glance you wouldn't think of amber at all when looking at this very attractive charleston necklace - nevertheless this hand-made varicolored necklace develops its very special appeal by a smooth color transitions which is achieved by a careful choice of the used amber beads. Every single bead used consists of clear natural amber ranging from pale yellow to dark cognac.

This necklace is made of Baltic amber. Amber is a fossil hardened resin of conifers that grew in the cretaceous age (140-66 million years) or the tertiary age (66-1,7 million years). Its color ranges from light yellow to almost black and it can be transparent or opaque. Amber is easily inflammable and burns with a smell of incense. It is only a bit heavier than water and therefore rises up from the bottom of the sea during storms and is then deposited on the shore - the biggest places of discovery are therefore at the shores of the Baltic sea.
