Through times of difficulties and change the Selkie fairy safely guides her wearer.

Avalon's Treasury - Jewelry, Gems & Minerals Selkie (Page: Selkie) [350 x 350 px]

Because Selkies shed their seal's skin to be able to walk on land as humans the Selkie fairy is said to safely guide her wearer through times of change and to enable positive renewal - after all she also is a chimera with a seal's tail and an upper body of a fairy. According to old Scottish legends a Selkie is a magic being which is able to live as a seal in the water and as a human on the land.
Example of a Spell for Contacting a Fairy from a Grimoire of White Magic:
1. Purificatio (Cleaning):
Hold the pendant showing your fairy under running water and imagine thereby how the water is clearing all adhering energy frequencies the pendant had contact with before you invited it into your life.
2. Contagio Alfam (Making Contact):
Hold the pendant of your fairy in your hands and close your eyes - meditate for a few minute about the help or guidance you need. Often during this meditation visions of your fairy appear before your inner eye or you hear a joyful laughter or a distant singing. But understand: Even if you don't experience anything right nor, the contact to your fairy has been established successfully.
3. Somniorum Interpretatio (Guidance through your Dreams):
After making contact you soon will dream about your fairy - without any prejudices and full of love this beautiful being will show up during your sleep. The energy frequencies of your fairy will flow through your body and grant pureness, benevolence and love to you. This way you will find guidance and love and will ride on the shimmering wings of your fairy into the realm of your dreams.

About us Arrow, Mist (Page: Selkie) [136 x 22 px]
We were always fascinated by pieces of jewelry designed according to historical artwork and magical and other old motifs are a main area of our jewelry collection until today. Nowadays we all are surrounded by designs and motifs from all over the world which we usually choose according to visual aspects without considering the original meaning and symbolism of the various depictions. For sure the beauty of the different designs and materials is a good reason for selecting them but the affinity to a special piece of jewelry or art craft can be enhanced if one knows its deeper meaning and its origin. For this reason we always placed value on the accurate representation and information explaining the various pieces of jewelry in our collection.
Jewelry always had various functions which changed during the course of time: Because of the precious materials that were often used for its design it often was a valuable asset and sometime was even used as a currency. But especially in ancient cultures the spiritual meaning of a piece of jewelry was always important and the different motifs were symbols for the affiliation of its wearer to and his status in a social group. Furthermore jewelry can also serve a practical purpose like this is the case with safety pins, belt buckles and brooches.
On account of these many different purposes the meaning of single pieces of jewelry can be very different and depends on the belief and the point of view of the respective manufacturer. In some cultures, e.g., bracelets were used as wedding jewelry, like the wedding rings of today, in other societies necklaces served the same purpose. The symbolic meaning of a piece of jewelry often cannot only be found in the piece itself, but also in its decorations or the used materials. In some cultures it is usual to give pieces of jewelry as a gift at certain important times in life which should emphasize the symbolic meaning of these events with the help of their decorations. These pieces were then often worn as amulets or talismans and were believed to protect and support its wearer during this new situation in life.
Not only the used symbols and decorations differ strongly between the cultures - a huge number of different materials were also used in the course of time. In the beginnings especially shells and pearls of wood and bone were used, because these natural materials were readily available and could easily be processed. Later the precious metals silver and gold became more and more important and also the use of precious stones increased. Nowadays all possible materials are used to underline the meaning of a piece of jewelry even further thereby creating pendants and other jewelry that could not be designed using traditional materials.
