Whenever the Nordic God of Thunder Thor was enraged, he dashed away his famous hammer, which found the target on its own, shattered it completely and finally returned to Thor. While on its way lightnings sprayed from the hammer, just like sparks are spraying when a smith hits his anvil with a hammer. Therefore Thor’s hammer was a symbol of power and strength and this pendant has been worn very often by Nordic kings. This protective charm was believed to shield them against hostilities from others and to keep them from failures. Besides this very special pendant combines the hammer of the Nordic God of Thunder with the Celtic knot of the Threefold Goddess: According to Celtic belief the lily-faced goddess Blodeuwedd, the Goddess of Dawn Arianrhod and the wise Old Goddess formed a triad, which was also called the Threefold Goddess. Blodeuwedd thereby symbolized the virgin who will soon bear new life, Arianrhod the mother feeding and raising this life and the wise Old Goddess stood for the teacher passing on her knowledge.

This pendant is made of Sterling Silver. Sterling is also called 925 Silver and consists of 92,5% silver and 7,5% other metals. Its name is derived from the Sterling coins that were used in Great Britain until 1920 and which consisted of exactly the same silver alloy.
