The two triangles of the Star of David altogether show 12 angles, six of them are facing outwards and can be seen as the star’s points and the other six are lying within the symbol. These 12 angles are symbolizing the 12 tribes of Israel, which were reigned by the biblical king David - this is where the name of this six-pointed star consisting of two crossed, equilateral triangles comes from.
