The threefold spiral, this pendant is showing, is also called triskele and symbolizes the cycle each life has to undergo in our material world, which consists of birth, growth and decay. In the pattern of the spiral of life at first each one of these three aspects flows outwards and then finally returns back to the center where it originally started.
Being an old Druidic symbol, the triskele also stands for the three sister goddesses Ériu, Banba and Fótla - these goddesses were part of the Túatha Dé Danann, an old race of gods and at the same time ancestors of the Irish Celts. Hereby Ériu symbolizes the virgin who will give birth to new life soon, Banba the mother who feeds and brings up this life and Fótla stands for the wise old teacher who passes on her knowledge. Additionally these three are Irish Goddesses of Protection after whom originally the whole country was named - so even today in the Irish tongue Ireland is called Éire, a term which is derived from the Goddess Ériu. And in Celtic poems quite often instead of Ireland the terms Banbha or Fodhla are used, which have been deduced from the two other sister’s names.
In former times this pendant has been worn to find spiritual knowledge and intuition and in order to be able to better understand one's own destiny.

This pendant is made of Sterling Silver. Sterling is also called 925 Silver and consists of 92,5% silver and 7,5% other metals. Its name is derived from the Sterling coins that were used in Great Britain until 1920 and which consisted of exactly the same silver alloy. Because of its high quality it is the most frequently used and most popular silver for the production of jewelry.
